All plays of the game for the 2011 - 2012 season have been uploaded to the site. You can view these files by rolling over "Fan Zone" and selecting "Play of the Game". There are more than 30 clips, one for each game, on that page and I hope to continue this in the future. Now you can relive those wonderful moments from the 2011 - 2012 Season.
Stan Caffey Last year, our theme was "PrACTice Like A Champion". This year our theme is quite simple, but often hard to do. A few years ago, before arriving at Memorial, I worked at Westbury Christian School. During my time there, not only did I have a chance to work under Legendary Coach Greg Glenn, in the boys basketball program, but I also had the opportunity to work with Stan Caffey, the Football coach there. I learned many a lesson about football, a sport I only played in 7th grade, but more importantly I learned a ton about coaching from Coach Caffey. I loved how he dealt with kids and how he got the best out of them. During my first season as a football coach, we won 4 ball games. You might look at that and say wow, that's terrible, but in fact that was really good considering they won zero, the year before. During my second year at Westbury Christian, we took a lot of those same kids who were 0 - 10 two years prior and they became the first football team to make it to the playoffs in school history. Six years, and three coaches later, they have still yet to return, and a lot of that is due to the Leadership and Vision of Coach Caffey. Our Freshman Basketball Camp is July 16 - 19, 2012 from 2 - 4 PM at Memorial High School. The cost is $20 and the application is available by clicking here.
Graduation is always a special time of year. I was again excited that I volunteered to be an usher because it allows me to see our players in their last event in Spring Branch. Congratulations to our 10 graduating seniors from this year. Graduating Seniors include the following people:
Congratulations on this accomplishment. This group has done many wonderful things on and off the court and I know that they have many more wonderful things on the horizon. Congratulations go out to Ellen Anderson who was the Touchdown Club of Houston scholarship winner for girls basketball. The Touchdown Club gave out seventeen awards in various different Spring sports and Ellen was selected from all of the athletes in the Houston area as the winner. As we draw close to graduation, this is truly a fitting award and I can't think of a better way for Ellen to end her high school career as she approaches graduation on the 26th. Ellen has truly be the definition of a student-athlete during her time at Memorial. She has lettered and made 1st Team All-District Honors in Basketball and Volleyball. She has received numerous awards in those sports as well as being named the 2011 Triple Impact Competitor by the Positive Coaching Alliance. While she has done many wonderful things during her time at Memorial High School I expect and know that she will truly be a competitive contributor to whatever society that she places herself in. The next community to be blessed with having Ellen Anderson is the University of Texas, as she will begin studying Geophysics there in the fall. Congratulations again, Ellen on a wonderful high school career. The gym will be open Monday - Thursday from 4:30 - 7:00 PM this Summer. You can use this opportunity to work on your individual skills, becoming a better athlete, and to play against other players from area high schools and colleges.
